A filly named Spring

Wholesome day out!
12

We drove out to see the two-week old Arab filly named Spring on a perfect spring day.

This was the firstborn for the mother horse.

The mom

There were fish swimming in the water tank!

Many treats were given- also I brought carrots.

Chewing

The ground was deeply green and the sky was deeply blue.

We brushed the horses.

After visiting with the horses we went to the reservoir and walked to the dam. Emma the dog ran around.

The scotch broom was fantastic in full peak bloom, vibrant yellow.

It was hot in the sun but still pleasant.

We met a group of riders. Some wore costumes. They were loosely doing some kind of event.

By the boat ramp a man threw a ball over and over into the water for his black lab.

I haven’t had a bath in three weeks. I have taken a shower every day at the Y. I made the trip usually late in the evening. I’d walk over imagining I was a camper in a campsite the furthest from the showers. I timed it. 6 minutes over and 6 minutes back. 12 minutes in and out of the shower. I got used to it and it was easy until I felt over it- that was yesterday. Tonight is the maiden new tub voyage.

I went to a poetry reading at an art gallery last night after work. It was two women who decided to skinny-dip together into local rivers and streams and then write separately about their experience. The subject was water and it was funny, moving, interesting. Yes, also intense, as my autocorrect just suggested.

They had the idea, they did it, they wrote about it, and then shared it at a packed art gallery. Inspiring!

When I was moving things out of the way for the remodel I found a notebook from 25 years ago when I went to Australia with my partner and we wrote in the same journal. I read it and remembered everything we wrote about. I enjoyed reading it.

No political activity happened today. Until 4:00 pm when I was canvassed by one of my colleagues. I invited him in and told him everyone I voted for. He said he enjoys canvassing but he talks too much with people because it’s fun. Then we laughed and shot the shit for quite a while.

This was a simple day - to be with horses, a friend, dogs and cats, water, trees.

The first bath christening will end the day perfectly.
